CHILD SAFETY POLICY AND CODE OF CONDUCT

Policy:
Sunraysia Bushwalkers Inc. is committed to promoting and protecting the best interests of children involved in our events and activities.
All children, regardless of their gender, race, religious beliefs, age, abilities, sexual orientation or family or social background, have equal rights to protection from abuse.
Any children ( persons under the age of 18 years or as defined according to applicable legislation ) in attendance at any Sunraysia Bushwalkers Inc. walk, event or activity must be fully supervised by a parent, carer or guardian at all times.

Code of conduct:
No person shall:
1 Shame, humiliate, oppress, belittle or degrade children nor unlawfully discriminate against any child;
2 Initiate unnecessary physical or other direct contact with a child, or do things of a personal nature for them that they can do for themselves.
3 Be alone with a child unnecessarily unless they are the parent, carer or guardian;
4 Develop a close relationship with a specific child or their own needs;
5 Show favouritism through the provision of gifts or inappropriate attention;
6 Arrange contact, including online contact, with children outside of SBW programs and activities;
7 Photograph or video a child without the consent of the child and his/her parents, carer or guardians;
8 Work with children while under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs;
9 Engage in open discussion of a mature or adult nature in the presence of children;
10 Use inappropriate language in the presence of children.
