I acknowledge that when I participate in Sunraysia Bushwalkers Inc activities I do so as a volunteer, in all aspects and as such I accept all responsibility for loss of property or bodily injury to me however it may occur.

I acknowledge that my participation in club activities may expose me to hazards and risks that could lead to injury, illness or death, or to loss or damage to my property.

 

I will make all reasonable effort to avoid or minimize these risks by:

  • Only participating in activities within my capabilities
  • Carrying water, food and equipment appropriate to the activity
  • Advising the leader if I am taking any medications or have any physical or other limitation that might affect my participation in the activity.
  • I acknowledge that it is a club recommendation to be a current member of an ambulance fund to attend activities, and that I am personally liable for costs associated with an ambulance attending me in the event of an injury or illness.
  • I undertake to keep the leader indemnified for any associated costs whilst I partake of club activities.

Quick reminders

 

  1. Contact walk leader with any concerns, and at the end of the walk before leaving.

 

  1. Stay within sight of the group at all times

 

  1. Toilet stops, advise a walker of your intention to leave the group, place your pack on the side of the track you are using. The “whip” or last walker will wait for your return.

 

Dig a hole and ensure paper and all “business” is in the hole before covering with dirt.

 

  1. If you become lost, stay where you are and call or blow your whistle to summon help.

Whistle code – 3 short blasts repeated at regular intervals.

 

  1. Walkers are encouraged to bring their own first aid kit, but the club kit will be carried. If you are bitten by a snake, or other emergency stay where you are and call for help.
